A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made our first ever Christmas Cabaret such a success.
On November 29th, I was delighted to host a James Bond Themed Christmas Cabaret at Crewe Hall in aid of the charity 52 Lives. (You can find out more about the charity here.)
When I began planning the event, I was hearing a lot of stories about bullying, both in the workplace and in school. It was wanting to build awareness of anti bullying campaigns that led me to find 52 Lives who instead of focussing on the bad, promote the good instead.
52 Lives aims to change someone’s life every week of the year and spread kindness, with the help of almost 100,000 supporters. They help with a wide range of things… from helping women to set up a home again after leaving a refuge, providing winter clothing to homeless children, paying for life-saving operations, providing medical equipment…whatever it is that a person needs. 100% of what their supporters give goes to the people they help.
52 Lives also run free Kindness Workshops in schools for almost 6000 children every year.
Alongside 52 Lives, I would also like to bring your awareness to the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Another charity who offer FREE online CPD training about bullying. The modules are really well organised and a super way to learn more about bullying and how we can deal with it. It is specifically geared towards working with children or in schools – but there is a lot for us adults to utilise in the workplace too – so do check it out!
At the Cabaret, a cappella group Qu4rtz started us off with a selection of Christmas Carols performed in the Pillar Gallery during the drinks reception.
After heading to the Long Gallery for food and entertainment, our 8 soloists and 12 backing singers took to the floor to perform a variety of really epic cabaret performances. This was partly because following such a huge response to our Summer Vibez Concert – I had to provide the adults with an opportunity to showcase their talent too – and WOW, were they amazing!
After the soloists, the cabaret concluded with a great performance from MicWire as well.
We also hosted a raffle, an auction, a James Bond themed quiz and some dinner games – all with James Bond merchandise as prizes to win.
I want to give a special thank you especially to Jepson’s Nantwich for donating a £20 voucher to spend in their store and to Flora’s Delights for donating an amazing £50 cake to auction off. Two Barclays Staff sponsored the event in order to double our profits which is so kind and also, Crewe Hall donated 10% of the bar takings to the cause as well.
The evening was a total sell out and the atmosphere was electric. The night concluded with dancing and frivolity and I want to thank everyone involved for making the evening one to remember!
I’m thrilled to say that the evening raised £1170.41 in aid of 52 Lives. With the double money from Barclays this will amount to a whopping grand total of £2340.82. Thank you all for coming along and supporting such a great cause and importantly to all the amazing singers and volunteers who were vital cogs in the machine making the evening run so smoothly!
Wishing you all a fantastic Christmas and all the best for 2020!
Love Kate x
