Mucous can get in the way of our lovely singing voices if we become ill. This is because our body over-produces the slimy substance and we can get bunged up hindering our ability to form words normally. Did you know, however, that mucous is actually helping us to stay healthy the rest of the time?
The mucous we regularly produce in our day to day existence, slides down the back of the throat and helps to lubricate our vocal folds. As hydration is key to vocal health mucous plays a big part: It stops our delicate vocal folds from drying out and therefore allows us to speak and sing healthily. Hooray!
