On Friday 18th May I was delighted to host a 3 hour workshop for the Musicians Union for singers and vocalists at Stan’s Café Theatre Space, Birmingham. Your Voice was the first in a 2-part course learning all about vocal performance and technique.
I was thrilled to have been asked to host the (sell out!) workshop for such a lovely group. We crammed loads in: exploring our own voices, discussing vocal health, warm ups, body alignment, basic anatomy and physiology and breathing. I incorporated videos, demonstrations, theory, research and we explored some practical application too. Together we had an immersive and informative afternoon of discovery.
The questions asked were brilliant and the participants left with a reading list of my favourite books, Facebook groups, wonderful voice geek people to look up, as well as lots of ideas to take away to work on their vocal technique, health and confidence. I loved every minute of it!
(Your Voice Part II coming in September 2018. Keep an eye on your inbox for an email from the MU!)

“It was a real pleasure working with Kate on this workshop for our members. The group composed a real mix of vocal styles, ages, and abilities but Kate tailored the event at just the right level to make it accessible & enjoyable for all. We had some great feedback on the content, presentation style, interaction, and our members were provided with lots of additional follow-up information, reading lists, and video links. We would not hesitate to recommend Kate for your event and we have already re-booked for another workshop in September. We are all really looking forward to part 2 – Thank you!”
